Kadampa Meditation Center
Glen Spey, New York
Join us, along with students from Centers in South Central Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, for a small group retreat at the Kadampa Meditation Center (KMC) in New York.
The retreat will be on the topic of Freedom from the Eight Worldly Concerns. Due to an exaggerated concern for the comforts of this life such as possessions, respect, pleasure, reputation, and praise we experience a roller coaster of high and lows and remain insecure and vulnerable. By practicing Dharma more purely we can overcome many of our daily anxieties and frustrations and have more energy for our spiritual practice.
The KMC-NY is our national Retreat Center in the Catskill Mountains of New York. The Temple itself is an incredibly blessed, holy place; the natural environment of the KMC is serene, beautiful, and inspiring; and the community of practitioners living and helping there are a powerful example of a living Kadampa spiritual society.
The retreat will begin at 8pm on Friday evening, and conclude after lunch on Sunday. We will be happy to try to arrange carpools from around the Baltimore and Annapolis areas. There should be plenty of space for you to stay on-site at the KMC, including some single and double rooms.
The fee for the event is $50. Please add the price of accomodations (includes food):
Camping: $50 + 40 = $90
Dorm room (sleeps 8-10): $50 + 60 = $110
Shared room (sleeps 3-5): $50 + 100 = $150
Double room (sleeps 2): $50 + 120 = $170
Single room: $50 + 150 = $200
Accomodations rate is cost per person for both (2) nights. You may also stay off-site. Let us know whom you would like to room with on your registration form.
Event Schedule & Logistics:
Program start: Friday, June 6 at 8pm
Program end: Sunday, June 8 after lunch
Advance registration is strongly recommended. No registrations will be accepted after May 31.
We request that everyone help us to make this event run smoothly. There are several volunteer opportunities available. Please indicate on your registration form in 'Notes, special needs or requests' what you would like to volunteer to do during your stay. We need help in the following areas: accomodations, cook assistants, wash-up after meals, Peace Cafe, Gompa set-up, Tsog pujas & sound and heat in the Temple.
