Meditations for World Peace

  • Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland (map)

This class includes guided meditations, a teaching, and chanted prayers for world peace.

We can all do something to contribute to world peace! In this class, we are creating world peace in two main ways. We are making prayers together for world peace, and we are also creating inner peace. Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible. When we create peace within our own mind, it ripples out to create peace in our world.

Each week we explore a practical topic from Buddha's teachings, as presented in books by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Current series topic:

Freedom from Painful Emotions

Don’t let your thoughts ruin your day!  Discover why negative states of mind arise and how to use the tool of meditation to recognize, reduce, and eliminate them. Through applying Buddha’s timeless wisdom, we can transform our habits of mind from negative to positive. In each class of this series, we will look at a particular negative state of mind and learn meditations to oppose it:

How to Deal Skillfully with Painful Emotions

Reducing the Pain of Attachment

Pacifying our Anger & Frustration

Freedom from Anxiety

Dropping our Pride & Jealousy

Reducing our Fear of Missing Out

Dispelling our Doubts

The Root of our Painful Emotions
