Welcome to the Maryland Kadampa Buddhist community. Drop in for meditation or a special day or weekend retreat.

Vikatadamshtri Buddhist Center is a Kadampa Buddhist Meditation Center in Baltimore. Located near the Baltimore Museum of Art and Johns Hopkins University, the center provides meditation classes and teachings in various parts of Maryland, including Annapolis, Baltimore, Bel Air, Bowie, Columbia, Lutherville, and the US Naval Academy. We also offer several classes in Pennsylvania.

Taught by qualified local teachers, the meditation classes are very easy to understand and apply to our daily lives. The classes are suitable for both beginners and more advanced meditation practitioners.

Don't hesitate to check out a meditation class this week and see for yourself!

Please join us for a Free Public Talk entitled Happiness in Every Moment; A Buddhist path to peace of mind on one of two dates:

    • Monday, September 22, from 7:00 - 8:30 PM with Kelsang Dachog at the Annapolis Friends Meeting House at 351 Dubois Rd; or,

    • Friday, September 26, from 7:00 - 8:00 PM with Kelsang Chogden at Vikatadamshtri Buddhist Center in Baltimore.

Imagine feeling a deep sense of inner peace no matter what is happening around us! Buddha teaches the secret of removing our mental pain while increasing our happiness so that eventually our entire life can be filled with joy no matter what happens.
  • Please join us for the Lamrim Retreat from Sunday, August 31 through Friday, September 5. Meditating on Lamrim, which means ‘the stages of the path to enlightenment,’ is the supreme way to solve our daily problems and find lasting happiness. Attend as many or as few retreat sessions as you wish. See calendar for session times. $10 per day or $5 per session.

  • The Foundation Program in Baltimore will begin the study of a new book, Joyful Path of Good Fortune, in the Fall. There will be an introduction to the program on Sunday, September 7 from 3:00 - 4:30 PM, followed by the first class on Joyful Path. Both sessions are open to anyone who would like to consider joining or who simply wants to come to learn more about the program!

  • Don't forget to register for the Fall Festival in Paris where Geshe Kelsang Gyatso will grant the empowerment of the Great Mother Prajnaparamita for the very first time in the west. Prajnaparamita is the embodiment of the Wisdom Truth Body of all the Buddhas and can help us to understand the true nature of our reality.

  • Beginning in September, our Sunday morning Prayers for World Peace session will meet at a new time from 10:30 to 11:45 AM. Enjoy teachings, guided meditation, and chanted prayer in the Center's peaceful environment with Resident Teacher Kelsang Chogden.

  • Please note that Kadampa Kids class times have changed to coincide with the new time for Prayers for World Peace. Classes meet most first and third Sundays of the month from 10:30 - 11:45 AM. If you are interested in joining the program, please contact the Center at 410-243-3837.

  • Check out the Peace of Mind Meditation Retreats at the Kadampa Meditation Center in New York.
