Wednesday Meditations for World Peace
Wednesdays 6-7pm
This class includes guided meditations, a teaching, and chanted prayers for world peace.
We can all do something to contribute to world peace! In this class, we are creating world peace in two main ways. We are making prayers together for world peace, and we are also creating inner peace. Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible. When we create peace within our own mind, it ripples out to create peace in our world.
Each week we explore a practical topic from Buddha's teachings, as presented in books by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
Current series topic:
Eight Steps to Happiness
Peace is possible! Through learning and practicing the eight verses of training the mind (based on the book The New Eight Steps to Happiness), we will see how it is possible to develop peace in our own mind and in the world by learning to cherish others. Through strengthening our mind in this way, we will gradually experience greater peace and happiness in our daily lives, and will eventually develop universal love, compassion, and profound wisdom.
